What we store when you run a lookup

We store the county, a coordinate rounded to about three decimal places (roughly a tenth of a mile), the search radius, and how many wells were found. That is enough to tell which parts of Idaho people are searching, and not enough to identify a parcel.

We do not store the address you typed. If you search by address we send it to the U.S. Census geocoder to turn it into coordinates, show you what it matched, and then discard it.

Personal information in public records

Idaho well logs include the well owner's name and the well's street address. We never request those fields, so they never reach our servers, our cache or our logs. The report shows only technical details: depth, water level, yield, dates, distance and how the well was located.

Email addresses

If you ask to be told when the full report is ready, we store your email address, the date, and the exact wording you agreed to. We use it only for that. Reply "remove" to any message and we delete it.

Analytics

We use PostHog to count how the tool is used. Events carry county-level information only — never an address, a name, an email, or a coordinate. Automatic capture of page inputs is switched off.

Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. We keep the Stripe identifiers, what you bought, the amount, and the email address you gave Stripe, so we can deliver the report and handle refunds.

Getting your data deleted

Email hello@welldepth.com and we will delete your address and any order record we are not legally required to keep. You do not have to explain why.
